The purpose of this study is to analyse the factors affect happiness in older rural residents, and to discuss the implications the findings. For this, we used Survey of Rural Well-being conducted by the Rural Development Administration in 2017. From this dataset, 2,804 individuals aged 60 and older were selected for this study. We used ordered logistic model considering the nature of the dependent variable. The results of this study can be summarized as follows. First, among demographic characteristics, age, presence of spouse, and internet use had positive effect on happiness in older rural residents. Second, among economic characteristics, while housing ownership, household income had positive effect on happiness in older residents, public assistance had negative effect. Third, among condition satisfaction characteristics, family satisfaction and total life condition satisfaction have positive effect on happiness of rural elders. Fourth, some factors of happiness varied across different age groups. Therefore, to improve happiness of older rural residents, policy measures should be taken to help them their computer and Internet capabilities, increase household income, and improve family relationship.
